This Is Me & My Review Policy

I landed my dream job in a little independent bookshop set in a quaint Buckinghamshire village over ten years ago.  If you have seen the film with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan ‘You’ve got mail’ you will know the gorgeous bookshop that features in it. This was how my little bookshop was.   I became manager after two years and not once did i ever wake up and feel as if i was ‘going to work’. I remember walking in each morning and having butterflies in my stomach as i turned on the lights!

In 2012 due to family circumstances i was forced to move to a different area, i knew i would never find a job that i loved so much again. I am a qualified NNEB childcare practitioner so i returned to my roots in a gorgeous little pre-school. I have been so lucky as i am now manager of the setting, which i love. I still have days where i miss the bookshop, the customers, book events we used to host  and the books! As much as i love my job, childcare has become very much ticking boxes and for managers it is more about office work than the childcare element . I am lucky in that i still have two mornings a week in class. Even so being a manger of a pre school is hectic and so stressful.

I started this blog 2 years ago when i discovered reviewing for lovereading, more so i could keep track of the reviews i had completed rather than to promote my blog. At the beginning of 2017 i set myself a reading challenge on goodreads. I decided i had fallen behind with my reading and i wanted to make it part of my life again. I joined lots of reading groups on Facebook, resigned up to netgalley (i’d finally given in and bought a kindle) joined an amazing group called book connectors and voila here i am!

I hope you enjoy my blog, please feel free to comment and if you have a blog add a link so i can return the favour and have a little look at yours too!

My Review Policy

I love reviewing books, hence why I’m here! I do sometimes get a bit snowed under with reviews.

I regularly review for Orenda books and Neverland blog tours. I do also have requests direct from publishers and authors.

I have been asked if I only review indie published books, the answer is no, although, I do love giving support to independent and self-published authors. There are some real hidden gems out there just waiting to be found!

I welcome authors or publishers contacting me directly to enquire about reviews, I will be honest and tell you if I do not have the time.

I love most genre’s and like to push myself out of my comfort zone. I don’t really enjoy sci-fi and tend to not commit to YA unless the subject really intrigues me.

Please contact me at bookaddictionuk@outlook,com or find me on twitter by following the link on my home page.

Happy reading 😉
