My Review

The Serial Killer’s Girl drew me in from the first chapter, what a clever idea for a book! Lexi’s Father is a serial killer and as the story starts it’s the twenty year anniversary of his twentieth kill.

Lexi remembers a very different man to the one who was dragged out of their family home by the police when she was 6, she remembers a Daddy who lived her and protected her, not one that killed people with red scarves and left a chest piece at with them.

Lexie was taken into care after her Dad was arrested and her identity was change me but she still knows who she is and who her father is.

Every year On the anniversary of her Dad’s 20th kill Lexie prepares herself to see his name plastered over the newspaper but nothing could prepare her for this year. A copycat killer has murdered someone in exactly the same way her Dad did, but the person murdered is her birth mother.

Amazing book with lots of twists and turns! Thank you to Lynda & Rachel’s Random Resources for inviting g me onto this blog tour.

My review

The Island in Bramble Bay has kept me going through a really stressful week, it felt like coming home when I took time out of my busy work day to read a chapter here and there, I couldn’t put it down.

The characters had depth and Maggie & Charlie’s characters both had interesting back stories. Victoria has the ability to describe the surroundings so well that you feel as if you’re actually there. Bramble Island is idyllic but I also loved the little trip to USA where we discovered more about Charlie’s past.

A real curl up with a cuppa, relax and revive book!

My Review

To say I love Caroline’s books is an understatement and I think the spa break is one of my favourites.

The spa break follows 4 best friends over a weekend break at the sparadise retreat, now if this retreat was real I would be booking myself in immediately!

All 4 friends are in their late sixties and the reason for the break is to celebrate Bridgette’s 70th birthday. I adored all 4 characters they were so full of life and all very different but they all just seem to fit together like a jigsaw piece, each of their personalities compliments the other.

I laughed out loud to the stage of snorting in so many places I lost count. During the stay at Sparadise each character transforms their life in some way with the help of a little magic and a very suspect pick me up drink made by the staff at the retreat. This book robes that 70 is definitely the age to be!

This is a truly amazing read and one I will read again when I need a pick me up, a huge thank you to Caroline and Rachel’s random resources for inviting me on to this blog tour.

My Review

Firstly can I just say how beautiful the cover for this book is, absolutely stunning!

I really enjoy a good WW11 book and this is just that. When I was a child my Nan used to tell me stories of when she lived in London during the blitz, I used to be enthralled by the stories of evacuations, air raids and the comraderie that brought everyone together. Coincidentally my Nans name was Joyce the same as the main character of the book, this made it really personal for me.

The woman with the map made me feel as if I had visited the era and had a birds-eye view. I knew the devastation the war caused but don’t think I really appreciated the effect on everyone. Jan has done an amazing job of making the reader understand just how people lived throughout the awful time.

The woman with the map has a dual timeline which I always love, it took us back to WW11 but also 1974. The importance of family and friends during the war gave me a warm hug, everyone was so close and helped each other out no matter what.

In 1974 Joyce is forced to move out of her beloved basement flat as it has been bought by developers, it’s clear to see how the war years have impacted her throughout her life, she had lost people she loved and this had made her become very isolated as she grew older, making it hard for her to make friends and relationships because of the fear of loss.

This is definitely not a gloomy read, Joyce has an amazing personality and this shines out of the pages. I really enjoyed the two timelines finally coming together and learning about Joyce’s life after the war.

A truly lovely read that I’d highly recommend to lovers of WW11 fiction.

Thank you to Jan & Rachel from Rachel’s Random Resources for inviting me on to this lovely blog tour.

Down with a bad case of writer’s block, Riven has escaped to a mountain cabin for a prolonged writing retreat. What he needs even less is for a family of strangers as large and boisterous as his own to also be stuck in the same house after a double-booking disaster.
Especially when he ends up having to share a bunk bed with Wendy—a gorgeous, feisty New Yorker who quickly learns how to get under his skin.
Sharing a room with her is sweet torture and Riven isn’t even sure what he dreads more: that every passing day brings them closer to saying goodbye or that they have yet another night to spend

My Review

Another gorgeous book from Camilla, she is now my official pick me up! If I’m having a day where I’m feeling a bit fed up I throw myself into one of her books and it’s as good as a mini break away!

I must admit I’m a creature of habit and I usually save Christmas books for November & December, but couldn’t resist the home for Christmas invite when it dropped into my inbox. This was the perfect February read, it pulled me into its pages and left me with a cosy glow.

Camilla always creates her characters so beautifully that you can picture them clearly and get to know them quickly. I loved the setting of this book and the two families being thrown together over the festive season, although not by choice was a brilliant idea. The characters from each family intertwined beautifully. Wendy & River are a gorgeous couple and it was lovely getting to know them and watching their frostiness of one another turn into flirting.

Another 5 star read, thank you Camilla & Rachel’s Random Resources for inviting me on to this delightful book tour.

My Review

I am always excited when an email drops into my inbox and it’s an invitation to read one of Gillian’s novels. They never fail to disappoint! Diamond Geezer lived up to all my expectations and beyond.

What a rollercoaster of emotions this read was with an ending that gave me palpitations!

As always Gillian creates her characters so perfectly you can picture them in your mind. It was lovely starting a new series and getting to know the new characters, I found myself being pulled into the gangland underworld, it’s definitely an edge of your seat read!

The characters are all so different, Nick is a real love to hate character but occasionally you see his softer side, which draws you in even more. There are so many complex characters all with their own stories & backgrounds that make this story hard to drag yourself away from. I don’t want to give any of the plot away so all I’m saying is … this needs to be on the top of your ‘to be read pile’

I cannot wait for book two to see where Gillian takes us next!

My Review

Heartcross Castle is a total feel good, hug in a book read, it made my heart sing and took me to a happy place for a few days. It’s the 7th book in the Love Heart Lane series but can be read as a stand-alone novel.

As the story starts, you slowly discover that Grace is in an abusive toxic relationship but you’d be wrong to think the story revolves around this and makes it a sad read. Heartcross Castle instead is about a strong woman who is a fighter and turns hers and her 3 boys life’s around. She puts her 3 boys at the forefront of everything she does and you can feel her love and devotion to them throughout. I love that Grace has a sense of humour which shines

When Grace is left her Grandad’s castle in his will she is given an escape route, but it means returning to where she grew up and also to face her childhood friends who she never said goodbye to when she ran away many years ago.

On her return Grace’s friends welcome her back with open arms, the warmth of these friendships just ooze out of the pages. I loved finding out about the castle and it’s secrets, what it was like to grow up in it and all the little secret passages hidden within. The relationship between Grace & Hector, the castles head gardener and also her Grandad’s best friend is gorgeous.

As the story unfolds you get to know Andrew Glossop, the famous chef who rents the old servants quarters in the castle’s grounds. Seeing the relationship grow between Grace & Andrew is a delight and it definitely proves not to judge a book by its cover!

Heartcross Castle is about friendship that never dies, love that grows when you least expect it and new beginnings.

Thank you to Rachel of Rachel’s Random Resources & Christie for inviting me in to this blog tour.
