The Cocktail Bar by Isabella May #Review #Blogtour #Giveaway #BirthdayBlitz

Synopsis

Rock star, River Jackson, is back in his hometown of Glastonbury to open a cocktail bar… and the locals aren’t impressed.

Seductive Georgina is proving too hot to handle; band mate, Angelic Alice, is messing with his heart and his head; his mum is a hippie-dippy liability; his school friends have resorted to violence – oh, and his band manager, Lennie, AND the media are on his trail.

But River is armed with a magical Mexican elixir which will change the lives of the Three Chosen Ones. Once the Mexican wave of joy takes a hold of the town, he’s glad he didn’t lose his proverbial bottle.

Pity he hasn’t taken better care of the real one.

My Review

I’d like to thank Rachel’s Random Resources and Isabella May for inviting me onto this fab birthday blitz blog tour.

I’ve been a fan of Isabella since I found Oh What A Pavlova! There’s always the fear when you’ve enjoyed a previous book by an author you love, that the next one may not quite hit the spot! For me The Cocktail Bar is my favourite so far.

The Cocktail Bar is a total escape from reality, I adore Glastonbury and all the magic and spiritualism that goes with it. Isabella incorporates this into the story wonderfully.

River is a divine character, an ex rock star with a heart and a big heart at that. Before returning to his beloved home town he acquires a bottle of magic elixir with the promise it will change the life of three people.

The Cocktail bar is his dream, after leaving the rock band Avalonia. The Glastonbury locals are none too pleased when River sets up his bar in the town, especially Blake an old school friend with a score to settle.

Quite quickly we are introduced to Georgina, Blake’s sister who makes it her mission to seduce River and launch ‘operation payback’

Georgina really got under my skin, I despised her by the end, the last chapter was pure karma, I loved it!

Alice is another member of Avalonia and the love of River’s life. The relationship between the two was lovely to follow and full of ups and downs.

There are fantastic supporting characters throughout The Cocktail Bar that jump out of the pages and bring the book to life.

I adored the mystical, magical aspect of the book. The Cocktail bar had so many wonderful elements. Love, romance, mystery and laughs!

I can’t recommend this book enough, I read it over a weekend while I was poorly and wrapped in a blanket on the sofa. It was the perfect remedy and whisked me away from reality to a gorgeous fictional world. It also reminded me of how much I love the magic of Glastonbury.

I’m going to finish with the last paragraph, because it just struck a chord with me and stayed in my head long after i’d read the last page.

When we want something so badly that we’re scared it might consume our very soul, and then we surrender to that soul’s dark night; when we get out of our own way and stay there just a little while, finally, one morning we rise to see that the universe had our back all along, the dark clouds have parted, the sun is shining, and we have arrived at that perfect place.

A 5* review from me ❤️
